Landfill next target has been achieved…….

Following the board meeting held in October 17 we can confirm that its been a busy Summer and we have achieved our landfill target set of below 15%.

Over the last three months the total waste delivered into our transfer and recycling plant, only **14.78%** was sent to Landfill. This is a fantastic achievement considering that Landfill of non-recyclable waste is the only option available locally at present. The closest ‘Thermal Process solution’ is located in Ipswich, however it is unable to take any extra waste due to high demand.

Jason McGinlay – Site Manager commented that ‘ by the start of Summer 2018 I would like to think that we can be below 10% to landfill’.

We are investigating the use of SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel) as an option that will totally eliminate the need to use Landfill as the option to dispose of waste, but there are limited availabilities.
